About Melear Fabrics and Sew Much More!
We are nestled among many small town shops in down town Salem. A renovated old store building now houses our quaint little 3000 sq ft country shop. The store's adjoining room is decorated with old fashioned pictures, and quilts to provide a "country feel" with a modern touch. Each table is set up with a sewing, cutting, and ironing area and will hold up to two students each. We offer year-round classes that are taught by several ladies from different backgrounds. A few of the ladies from the local Mennonnite community teach their basic quilting methods along with the Ellinor Burns' techniques. Local guilds and quilt designers teach everything from the very basics to the more advanced and modern techniques. So there is always something for everyone!
You can be assured to have a wonderful shopping experience no matter if you're a local or have come "over the river and through woods" to get here. We carry items from the newest notions on the market, unique books, patterns and fabric from a vast array of designers, to quilts created and designed by local ladies and gentlemen.
Melear Fabrics offers a "fabric club incenitive program" to all of our customers: each yard of fabric purchased is kept on file with your name; when you have reached 75 yards you will receive $10.00 off of your next purchase. Along with the incenitive program we add new items weekly to keep our stock new and exciting! So whether you are a first time shopper or a regular you'll be sure to find what you're looking for to complete your projects.
James and Faye Melear, a father/daughter team, have been machine quilting in our area for years and it was always a dream of the late Reba Melear & family to own a fabric shop in Salem. James Melear has since passed on but Faye Melear and niece Stephanie Davis keep up the quilting tradition. When quilt customers began to share in the idea of Salem needing a fabric shop Faye Melear decided to open a shop and recently added a shop in Sullivan Mo. and Rolla Mo. Because the name Melear was already known for it's quality quilting and prices, the shop has been a hit with a "family feel". Adding to that feel, quilters pass along valuable service and information to friends, family and neighbors.
Due to the number of quilts we have coming in and out to be quilted, we have created a drop off area at the main shop,Sullivan and Rolla shop for shipping convenience. We have shipped as far away as Colorado, Maine, Canada and Arizona. Melear Fabrics understands how much hard work goes into making a quilt and the joy that comes from being able to pass along a heirloom that can be passed from generation to generation, so the best of care is taken with each quilt and returned within weeks of receiving it.
Our goal is to provide a friendly and valued atmosphere for everyone, whether you're browsing our online store or shopping at our Salem, Sullivan or Rolla location. We assure you that you'll enjoy shopping at Melear Fabrics & Sew Much More.
Because were so much more then just a fabric store...
